Pinterest tried & true
Another fav recipe thanks to Pinterest. In an effort to eat healthier here at the Beauprez house I made this lasagna using zucchini instead of noodles.
It was amaze balls! Although Cade said he didn't like the "chini's" but he's 4, so you know...

Pinterest tried & true
We're on a roll this week as far as trying some new and successfully yummy recipes.
Tonight for dinner we made white chx lasagna using a rotisserie chx so it was fairly easy.
I tend to modify recipes here and there. For example, on this one I used no boil lasagna noodles and therefore needed an egg mixed in with the ricotta. Evan doesn't like ricotta so we use cottage cheese instead. I also didn't have any basil so I opted for Italian seasonings only to my onion and garlic sautéed. I also used fresh spinach vs frozen. I would say it turned out quite well!!

Pinterest tried and true
So I'm back!
It's been forever since I've posted a PT&T post.
We're finding our groove and getting some sort of routine down here at the Beauprez home.
I've been trying to get out and do something once a day with the kids and or do projects or baking etc. I've taken them with me twice now. It's a lot of gear to pack up having a newborn on your hands. Cade is so easy and such a big help to me too!
Today we ventured out to Bru for a new diaper bag. Then we made these fabulous homemade healthy blueberry muffins. I love that there is Greek yoghurt and oats in them. They're not super sweet which I also like. The yoghurt makes them very moist. I did increase cook time 5 mins for a total of 30min.
Try them, you will see what I mean!!

Pinterest not so tried and true
So Pinterest is a great quick resource to do my weekly meal planning. I've had great successes so far but you can't win em' all. Photo and recipe courtesy of:
http://thepost-itplace.com/2012/01/crockpot-cube-steak-and-gravy/
We just were not a fan of cube steak.
The flavors were ok but we couldn't get over the idea that it looked and tasted like cat food. (not that ever eaten cat food but it's what I imagined it to taste like blah).Once I get something in my head watch out too. I mixed ours with some egg noodles and sour cream to create a stroganoff. Lets just say the leftovers ended up in the garbage. Perhaps a diff cut of meat would have worked better for us.

Another successful Pinterest recipe-yippee. I've never been crazy about meatloaf but this Italian version is yummy. Who doesn't love the taste of Italian food??
http://mommyimhungry.blogspot.com/2012/02/parmesan-meatloaf-gluten-free.html?m=1
I did a few of my own variations too.
I did not use gluten free breadcrumbs
I added 2 cups of fresh chopped spinach to my mixture.
I added 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese to my mixture.
I only used 1lb hamburger. But after discussing with Evan we decided next time it'd be yummy to mix in some Italian sausage with the hamburger.
Evan raved about how yummy it was, and Mr Cade ate up pretty well too.
I will def be making this again as there was only one slice left!

Pinterest tried and true
I love posting about these fab Pinterest recipes lately. I hope it's helpful for someone out there too.
Recently I made this: http://www.saving-makes-cents.com/2012/07/what-is-for-dinner/
So yummy, super easy too. It tasted like restaurant style roast chx. Caders ate it up and I even enjoyed it the next day for lunch. I'm not normally a chx leftovers gal.

This week our menu consists of the following: some crockpot and some Pinterest recipes too.
I'll be sure to report back.

Pinterest tried and true
I'm back after trying yet another Pinterest recipe. It was lovely and warm here today so I was reluctant to make this. But the creamy tomato goodness was calling my name and I'll be honest we haven't left the house yet today. I told my husband after a 3.5 hr nap that I wished I could hibernate, relax, aka do nothing and cook this baby for the remaining 8 weeks to go.
He's so sweet he told me to do just that every chance I can. Ok easier said than done with a 3.5 yr old running loose!
Any who back to the soup. I did the stove top version today. The only thing I would change is the salt. We didn't taste it before Evan put that in and between the chx broth and canned tomatoes there was plenty of salt already. I tried to cut it by adding a cup of water to the final mixture no such luck.
The soup is thick of yummy veggies, and creamy and smooth.
Try it!!

Update: the soup was even better the next day. At evans request we added lobster and a cup of milk to thin it out as it thickened it became marinara consistency. Nice addition honey!

pinterest, love or hate?
What 30 something, woman, mother, crafter, blogger isn't addicted to Pinterest??
I've discovered so many great ideas to some not so great ideas.
What brought me to this post was that I recenly tried some "all natural"
granola bar "breakfast cookies" made with apple sauce, oats, mashed bananas all baked.
um, yah, not a fan at all. I wish I had never wasted my time.
But it's trial and error. You gotta sorta weed out the good and bad.
I did recently discover after a red stain on Cade's white shirt
had been washed but not bleached and no stain remover.
(I think the hubs was "helping" with laundry that day.)
(I think the hubs was "helping" with laundry that day.)
I was determined to save this white shirt.
The kid had only wore it twice!
(shame on me for buying a 3.5 year old a white shirt).
I found a great mixture of bleach, hydrogen peroxide dawn soap and baking soda did the trick.

Hydrogen peroxide as mouth wash, yeap it works!
my mouth feels super clean after a fizzy swish of Hydrogen peroxide.
I also found out that fighting oil with oil works!
Our stove hood was nasty until today!
I've also tried several diy laundry detergents but this one is my fav by far:
and white teeth, yes I'm obsessed with this!
And this recipe really works, I use it daily

what are your fav pinterest finds??
and what should I steer clear of??
Cheers, Carri
