Thinking about some things

I'm thinking about painting our computer amoire and adding a decorative detail to the front. I say thinking about it bc it's going to take sometime and prob not be very fun or easy. But the payoff could be great. So this is what I am working with:

Its a craigslist find from two years ago. Nothing super nice so I won't be too upset if it doesn't turn out.

But I think it would look much nicer if I paint it white, rough the edges and then add a damask wrapping paper detail to the doors like so: 

I think it will compliment the file cabinets I redid in black/white and yellow. Not sure the brown wall color can stay but its a work in progress so we shall see.
